You don’t drive the same car or truck like everyone else… Why choose the same automobile insurance?
Tailor your vehicle’s insurance to suit your needs. Consider the following when choosing the type of automobile insurance that is right for you:
Personal Liability & Property Damage (PL&PD) Insurance
By law, you must have insurance in the event of personal liability (ie. you back up and hit someone) or property damage (ie. you back up and hit someone’s fence); this is called PL&PD insurance. If an accident occurs causing damage to a person or their property, this third-party liability insurance, has you covered.
The Financial Services Commission of Ontario offers this advice on PL&PD
Increased Third Party Liability Coverage:
While you are legally required to carry a minimum of $200,000, you may want to increase this coverage. The cost to increase your Third-Party Liability coverage to $500,000, $1 million or $2 million is small in most cases.
For the security of knowing you have insurance against theft, fire or environmental damage sustained, comprehensive insurance provides that peace of mind for you. Coverage is generally for pre-specified perils, however; to be sure you are covered, additional insurance is available for the following, and more:
Accidents involving a trailer, vandalism, moving objects, hail, earthquakes, riots, or even for, auto theft by a person living in your house, or by an employee of a garage where it is being serviced.
